A specimen of a Short-eared Owl caught at the Montreal-East Quarry. It is very rare to spot such a beautiful owl during the day close to an operation in the city of Montreal. It is threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation, as well as collisions with vehicles and power lines. This species is protected by law in Québec and Canada.
