Builder of Progress

Lorenzo Quinn's "Building Bridges" – unveiled at the 58th Venice Biennale – is prominently located in an industrial area once emblematic of exploitation and environmental neglect. The sculpture stands as a point of reflection and transition from a past rife with worker exploitation and ecological disregard to a future aspiring toward environmental and social sustainability. The artwork tells a story of transformation – the journey from a time when progress was measured by production, often at the expense of human dignity and the environment, to a new era that champions circular living, mutual respect, and collaboration. It serves as a powerful metaphor emphasizing that true progress requires a harmonious balance between environmental stewardship and social justice. The clasped hands imagery invites us to work together towards a sustainable future, highlighting the importance of collaboration for a better future for our planet and its people.
